Cold temperatures mean winterize your house. Remove hoses from outside faucets, close foundation vents, set thermostat to 55, open under sink cabinet doors, turn off water at the house, not the street.
If you're here during the winter, do the above except set a warmer thermostat temperature for comfort & leave your water on. Open under sink cabinet doors & drip indoor faucets when freezing temperatures are expected. If a pipe freezes, warm it gently, slowly. A hairdryer is useful for this.
