Hemlock Woolly Adelgid & Bear Awareness

which is based in Asheville. The woolly adelgid (uh DELL jid) insect damages and kill hemlock.


The hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) has long damaged and killed hemlocks in the

North Carolina mountains. The white specks on the underside of the branch and needles in the photo are evidence of HWA.
