The fall color has been gorgeous the past couple of weeks and it's still around right now. Another bright spot here is the recently paved and freshly striped Breedlove Road. If you haven't driven on it yet, you're going to appreciate it.

Winterization--Yes, think about it and do it for your Chinquapin home. Read 2 articles under Owner Resources, Useful Articles. Tony Nicolli's article describes winterizing your home. Allen Dobson's article describes turning the water off to your home and has photos (scroll down that article). PLEASE NOTE: Lucas Murdock, Waterfront maintenance employee, requests that homeowners turn their water off at the location at their homes, not the location at the street. Another tip for winterization is to research the type of water heater you have. Some should not be turned off or drained and for others, it's ok to do that. Read your heater's instructions. Other things to do---open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warmer air to reach the pipes, definitely leave the heat on a lower temperature setting, and disconnect hoses from outdoor faucets.

Trail Closure--Dave Barnett says the Brown Trail, or Rye Mountain Trail, is closed now, awaiting relocation of part of that trail. Surveying and cutting the new section has begun, but isn't complete.

Panthertown National Forest project--An owner, Lisa Romfh, shared information on the owner Facebook group about this crowdsource project for Panthertown. You may be interested in it. There's a November 20 deadline for fundraising. In case you're not on Facebook or missed seeing her post, here's a link below which also contains a good, explanatory video. The purpose of the project being funded is to gather information about the resources and their conditions in the forest in order to identify areas of work and provide information for Forest Service funding purposes. https://panthertown.org/data/?fbclid=IwAR1NxSyPlNwyW6GsR7L-J3s_NXpBEBvE-5Qse8zcMFCjbKVnNDYJ2ZcBNMA

Directory & Calendar--The directory is updated and so is the Calendar. If you're not in the directory and want to be, or need to correct information in it, let Val Talley or Martha Dobson know. vhtalley@gmail.com meadobson@gmail.com

Services--If you have folks you'd recommend to provide services for homes, etc., send that info to Martha Dobson to be reviewed for the Services list under Owner Resources.

WhatsApp group--There's a neighborhood WhatsApp group. If you'd like to join, contact Val Talley. vhtalley@gmail.com 407-421-0579

Where to find Duke Energy contact info--This info, and contact information for Waterfront Group employees and Balsam West, the internet provider, is under Owner Resources, Owner Contacts & Directory. Copying those names, numbers, and email addresses to have at hand will be convenient when you need them. You can also set up alerts from Duke Energy. Please, when you have a power outage, let Duke Energy know via its reporting process so it has a more complete picture of the areas that need addressing. On one occasion last winter, Duke Energy thought it had restored all the power necessary for Chinquapin homes, but a very few were not restored--Duke needed to fix a different location situation. Then, all the power was on!
