Annual meeting Sept. 12, 2-4 pm. Watch for info from IPM about it and proxy voting or go ahead and reach out to IPM for your proxy if you need one.
Preparation for voting is always a good idea.
To vote, one must attend in person or assign their proxy to someone; if not, the vote defaults to the developer.

The History of Chinquapin---Posted under the Our History tab, also. Find out how Chinquapin started & about the nearby fire station which is instrumental in lowering fire insurance rates. The Flat Creek Road Chinquapin Fire Station.
A few words about the Captcha process on the website--This process, annoying as it may be, is there to prevent hackers or bots from getting into the website & your information. I talked with the website platform support, & learned that if we remove the Captcha, the site will almost certainly be affected by bad actors. In the effort to create a secure website that owners feel comfortable with, that only owners can access, and to ensure private info on the site stays that way, the Captcha will be part of the log in process.
Owner Directory--this is a private directory on the website that Val Talley & Martha Dobson initiated about 4 years ago to foster connections amongst our neighbors. If you're not listed on the directory, please send your information to info@chinquapinowners.com or Val Talley vhtalley@gmail.com or Martha Dobson meadobson@gmail.com . Most people send their names, Chinquapin lot # or address, email address & phone numbers. Some include their fulltime address, too.

Animal Care---This list isn't exhaustive nor recommendations, but is meant as a resource when your pet needs a vet, regular care or emergent care. If you know of a vet practice not listed here that would be good to include, let me know.

Trail blazes in Chinquapin usually are diamond shaped & painted the trail names' colors & nailed to a tree. There are also blazes with 2 colors on them. The top color is the trail you're heading towards. The former Orchid Trail is the Green-Brown Connector Trail, & its blazes are brown over green or green over brown to indicate heading towards the Green Trail (Wilderness Rd) or the challenging Brown Trail. Bi-colored blazes are on part of the new, also challenging, Navy Trail, whose blazes are light blue. These folks worked on trails recently: Dave Barnett, Sally Alvis, Rusty Hampton, Dean Goldgar, Carter Lucas, Robert Tauber,Will Carlton, Martha Dobson, Bryan Gruskowski, and Bruce & Sandie Barrett. I apologize if I left someone off the trail volunteers list. Thank you for all your work!
The hemlock workshop in early July trained about 15 people to treat these trees for the hemlock woolly adelgid, a little bug that kills hemlocks, permanently. Dave Barnett, Kay & Carter Lucas, Dean Goldgar, Val Talley, Maria Dean, Linda & Mark Cheadle, Martha Dobson, attended and 4 folks from the Cashiers/Asheville area came, too. The group treated a large number of hemlocks in the Tulip Pond area, and the Lucases and Martha later treated hemlocks on a trail and at a Nature's Walk home. Chinquapin is now designated a Hemlock Conservation Area, by the Hemlock Restoration Initiative of Asheville.
www.chinquapinowners.com changes---The Calendar tab is now in a drop down menu under Owner Resources. A new HOA tab on the home page will house HOA materials. Speaking of Owner Resources, you can find important contact info for employees & utilities there. The Stuff You Need to Know menu item has contact info, UPS/FedEx/US mail info, a restaurant listing, emergency numbers, medical offices/care, & a local services listing.
Three ways to treat hemlocks--spray, large tablets, & a drench (not pictured).
